My Education

I was born in Red Bluff, California, and lived in a variety of towns from Sacramento to Alturas as a child. We finally settled in Burney which is where I graduated high school. I attended California State University at Chico and California State University at Sacramento where I graduated with a B.S. in Business Marketing. Later, I became a Certified Childbirth Educator and a Labor Doula before getting my Multi-Subject Teaching Credential and then my Masters and Administrative Credential from Simpson University.

My Professional Experiences

In my early college years, I wanted to be a medical doctor and spent some years taking pre-med courses before changing my major to marketing. After a few years in the marketing field, I started a family and became interested in coaching laboring women and their partners through childbirth. I spent over 12 years working at Mercy Hospital and St. Elizabeth's Hospital educating pregnant and laboring women and their families. When my youngest child went to kindergarten and I started helping in her class, I fell in love with teaching children and returned to college to obtain my teaching credential.

Life Outside of School

I am married and have four grown children (two girls and two boys) and two step daughters. I have one granddaughter who attends Shasta Meadows. I love to exercise and stay active with kick-boxing, weight-lifting, step-aerobic and yoga/pilates classes. I also enjoy paddle boarding on Whiskeytown Lake, hiking our local mountains and walking the River Trail. Reading is a lifelong passion and I set a goal to read 24 books each year.
